ENTROX™ is an enteric coated Softgel of Essential Fatty Acids (EFA), including Omega-3, Omega-6, and Omega-9 fatty acids from dry, ripe, Non-GE Perilla (Perilla frutescens) seeds. This form of omega-3 oil does not leave a fishy taste in your mouth like fish oil capsules. The oil typically has about 54% ALA (alpha linolenic acid), 14% Linoleic acid, and 13% Oleic acid- ALA is metabolized to Omega 3 fatty acids in the body. The oil is freshly cold-pressed from the seeds and so is free of toxins normally found in perilla oil derived from leaves and flowering tops.
The product also contains natural Vitamin E as an antioxidant. This unique enteric coated protection helps to get all the benefits of the Omega 3-6-9 fatty acids without the gastrointestinal upset, unpleasant taste and odor, cramping, reflux, and rancidity associated with EFA group of products.
Since Perilla seed oil is much higher in iodine value than other vegetable oils, it has the characteristics of a strong drying oil. The major problem of perilla oil as an edible oil is its high content of linolenic acid, a highly unsaturated fatty acid which is easily oxidized; but with this patented method, the stability is increased and protected with an antioxidant to prevent deterioration.
Essential fatty acids are necessary for cell membrane structure, supporting their strength, tone and permeability. As a precursor to eicosanoids, EFA's play a role in transporting cholesterol and are incorporated into the water permeable barrier of the skin.
