Saw Palmetto - commonly known as the Prostate Herb. Saw Palmetto Extract has proven to be effective and safe in treating the symptoms of benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH). A 1994 study by Baeckman of 305 men revealed 88% improved urinary flow rates, residual urine volume and prostate size after 90 days of treatment. The dosage was 160 mg standardized softgels twice daily.
Pygeum - This African herbal extract has been researched for the treatment of mild and moderate BPH since 1969. Double blind clinical trials in Europe with thousands of subjects have shown Pygeum to be well tolerated and superior to placebo.
Stinging Nettle - This standardized extract has proven effectiveness and is approved by the German Commission E monograph for the treatment of BPH. Studies have shown increases in urinary flow rates in prostate patients as well as a reduction in residual urine levels and prostate volume as a result of nettle root extract treatment.
Lycopene - This tomato extract from Israel has been researched as a nutritional support to help prevent prostate cancer. A six year study involving over 47,000 men showed a significant relationship between Lycopene and other carotenoids and the risk of prostate cancer. Lycopene is a natural antioxidant hat contains small amounts of additional carotenoids and tocopherol antioxidants.
